Info: Perennial, evergreen herb and ornamental plant with a tangy-spicy aroma and scent. Bushy growth, height 15 - 30 cm. Young shoots and leaves are used fresh or dried in Mediterranean cuisine, for pizza, soups, meat and vegetable dishes (cooked along) as well as quark and herb vinegar. Brewed as a tea, it has a mucus-relieving and antibacterial effect.
Care: Sow in rows at a distance of 20 cm, press lightly, cover only thinly with soil (light germinator!) and keep moist. If necessary, prick out and plant out strong seedlings from the end of May at a distance of 20x20 cm or thin them out. Loves sunny locations and sandy-lean soils with some clay content.
Tip: Best harvest time is before flowering, dry in the shade. Cut back to hand height before winter.
Sowing: March - May indoors, May in the open
Germination: 15 - 21 days at 15 - 22°C, light germinator
Harvest: June - October, from April in the 2nd year
