Info: Perennial, heavily branched subshrub with velvety hairy leaves and aromatic, slightly bitter taste. Also attractive as an ornamental plant, height 30 - 60 cm. The leaves, fresh or dried, are used to season soups, meat, beans, and vegetable dishes, and dried leaves for tea. Has antibacterial and blood pressure lowering effects.

Care: Lightly press the seeds into the soil, cover only thinly with soil (light can promote germination) and keep moist. If necessary, thin out and transplant strong seedlings from the end of May at intervals of 30x40 cm. Prefers sunny-warm locations and well-drained, humus-rich, rather loamy-lime soils.

Tip: Dried sage leaves are more aromatic than fresh. Winter protection is recommended in severe frost.

Sowing: April - May indoors, May - June outdoors

Germination: 14 - 25 days at 15 - 24°C

Harvest: July - October, from March in the 2nd year
