Info: Very productive, round variety for summer and autumn harvest. Dark red flesh with only slight ring formation. Harvest for fresh consumption from August, for storage from October, can be stored until March. Use raw or cooked, as a salad vegetable, for wet preservation, pickled in vinegar or as juice. Good food coloring.
Care: Sow 2 - 3 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart. Press down seeds, cover with soil and keep moist. If necessary, thin out to 10 cm. Loves sunny, even partially shaded locations and all loose, humus-rich garden soils. Water moderately but continuously. Avoid fresh manure applications as it promotes side root formation.
Tip: Late sowings from May - June produce very tender beets. Harvest without injury, otherwise they will bleed. Store cool, frost-free in sand or in the clamp.
Sowing: April - June in the open field
Germination: 5 - 10 days at 15 - 22°C
Harvest: August - November
