Info: Mountain savory has an intense, bean-like smell, stronger than ordinary/annual savory. The leaves contain essential oils that give it its intense smell and taste. It is also very decorative with small pink-purple flowers. The growth height is 20 - 30 cm. Perennial.

Care: Sow shallowly, do not cover the seeds with soil, just press them down. Thrives best on light, calcareous soils, otherwise undemanding. Light germinator. Row spacing 5 cm. Keep soil moist. Harvestable throughout the summer. The spicy aroma is best just before and during flowering.

Use: In the kitchen, mountain savory is used for all dishes, salads, etc., it also harmonizes very well with rosemary, onions, and parsley. Best suited for potato and stew dishes and beans. It contains a lot of essential oil and therefore helps to digest heavy meals better.

Gardener's tip: Mountain savory has a rapid youth development, hoe immediately after emergence. Mountain savory is also popular with nectar-collecting insects.

Sowing: Pre-culture: March - April; Outdoors: May - June

Germination: 2 - 3 weeks at 15 - 20°C soil temperature

Location: Sunny
