Info: Annual and perennial species. A mix of ornamental and wild plants adapted to summer drought and winter cold (only perennials) of the North American prairies. Summer drought is also increasingly a problem in Central Europe. This mix reaches its peak bloom in midsummer until frost, but is also a delight in spring. Height 40 - 80 cm.
Care: Directly sow outdoors from March to mid-May. Draw rows 30 cm apart in the seedbed. Distribute seeds in the rows and press down. Keep sowing moist. Some species in the mix require cold phases before warm temperatures of 15°C to germinate. From the end of May, plant young plants at final distances of about 30x30 cm.
Gardener's Tip: To make sowing easier, mix the seeds with sand or sawdust to prevent overly dense sowing. Avoid waterlogging! Row sowing helps differentiate flower seedlings from weeds.
Sowing: March to mid-May
Germination: 14 - 30 days at 15°C
Location: Sunny and well-drained soil
Bloom: From July to frost
