Nasturtium, Variegated Queen

Info: Annual. The nasturtium is one of the most beautiful and versatile summer flowers. It easily climbs fences, walls, rose arches, and arbors. The beautiful pattern of its foliage gives this variety its decorative effect early on, even before the first bloom and also in the shade. The plants are largely avoided by snails. Growth height approx. 150 - 200 cm.

Care: Nasturtium thrives in any humus-rich, loose garden bed. Fertilize sparingly, otherwise, the foliage will overgrow and the flowers will disappear beneath it. Plant 2 - 3 seeds per planting spot/pot. Sowing depth 2 - 3 cm (dark germinator).

Usage: In beds and borders, the plants create a lush effect with their trailing habit. They look nostalgic against walls, in rock gardens and containers, as well as on balconies.

Gardener's tip: Leaves, flowers, and buds are edible and make a tasty, tangy salad. Buds and freshly fertilized seed capsules can be pickled in brine. They are used as a caper substitute.
