Info: This variety combines the wonderfully crisp and yet tender pods of a productive wax bean with the growth character of the so-called "clucking type", i.e., the pods hang freely and are easily visible and easy to pick above the foliage. This makes it particularly easy to judge the optimal harvest time. "Golden Teepee" produces many slender, golden yellow pods about 15-18 cm long. They are stringless, round, mid-early maturing, and can be harvested for a long time.
Care: Sow in rows 40-50 cm apart, every 6-8 cm, 1 seed or in hill planting (every 40 cm with 5-7 seeds). Sowing depth about 2-3 cm (dark germinator). Beans need a humus-rich, well-drained garden soil and a wind-protected, sunny location. Never let the seeds dry out completely, keep them constantly moist.
Usage: The tender pods make a crunchy bean salad. The long pods are also very suitable as a vegetable side dish. As the pods contain a harmful plant protein (phasin), never eat them raw. Beans become digestible through heating.
Gardener's tip: Plants that are germinated in pots on the windowsill or in a greenhouse at the end of April mature particularly early. After emergence, they are also no longer at risk from bean flies, which often eat germinating seeds outdoors.
Sowing: Outdoors: mid-May to mid-July
Germination: 15-25 days at 8-15°C
Location: Sunny
Harvest: July to October
