Info: "Bella" is a very high-yielding, robust, bitter-free, all-female flowering cucumber. Each flower produces a fruit. "Bella" has high resistance to cucumber scab and edge blight and to powdery mildew. It has a beautiful slim growth and the fruits can grow up to 40 cm long.
Care: The germination temperature should be at least 18°C, preferably 20 - 28°C soil temperature. Sowing depth about 1 - 2 cm (dark germinator). For continued cultivation, constant day and night temperatures are necessary. At 20 cm plant height or from the 4 - 6 leaf stage, train young plants on taut strings. Plant spacing about 50x100 cm. Optimal is a sunny, wind-protected location with humus-rich, well-fertilized soil.
Usage: Cucumbers are primarily used for preparing salads, whether alone or with other vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, leafy salads, seasoned with dill and other herbs. They are also very popular as a snack, sliced.
Gardener's Tip: Cucumbers need a lot of nutrients/fertilizer/manure. Soil crusting harms the plants, so cucumber beds should be regularly shallowly hoeed or mulched. Use compost as a "soil heater". Continuous picking increases the harvest yield.
Sowing: Indoors: End of March to June
Germination: 5 - 10 days at 23 - 28°C
Location: Sunny
Harvest: From June - October
